Why is Juneteenth Important? By Dez A La Mocha

June 19, 1865, known as Juneteenth, is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States of America.

Texas was the last state to still own slaves. This day, more than 250,000 enslaved black people were set free.

This is why this day is so special. A day to remind us of the trials and tribulations that our ancestors overcame and a day to celebrate our freedom.

As we celebrate the 155th anniversary of Juneteenth, I want to share with you my favorite Black-Owned Businesses - Summer Edition.

I am rooting for everyone black and I encourage you to do the same.
