6 Reasons to visit Savannah, Georgia

1.Southern Hospitality

Savannah really did show me what old-school hospitality looks like. From mom and pop places to big franchises I was always greeted, helped, and assisted with warmth and respect.

2. Rich Culture

Savannah is known for its cultural diversity, delicious food, haunted historic sights, and entertaining nightlife. This is why it's perfect for anyone because it offers a diverse list of things to do.

3. What  I did in three days:

  • I visited the City  Market. It's a four block-open-air market that has shopping, bars, casual and upscale restaurants, cafes, art galleries, carriage tours, pedal bars, and a cool nightlife scene. These four blocks pretty much have something for everyone to do and enjoy!!

My favorite place was The Grove. I loved that they ha a rooftop, view of the city, and live music.

  • Also, I visited Forsyth Park. It is a beautiful 30 acres park. Pre-covid it hosted free movies and festivals (sad I was not able to enjoy that) Honestly, you do not need for things to go back to "normal" to enjoy it. You can still enjoy it by having a romantic date night or a picnic with friends.

  • Lastly, I went to Tybee Island for the day. Since I am a beach girl this was the best part of my trip.

I grabbed lunch to go from Drift Tybee, super convenient because it's across the street from the beach and their sandwiches were delicious.

This beach was quiet and practiced social distancing with the placement of the beach umbrellas. Super ideal during covid times.

4. Hotel accommodations

Savannah really offers a wide range of options. I decided to do a mix between an affordable hotel (The Comfort Inn at Savannah) and splurge the last two days with a high-end hotel (The Mansion at Forsyth) since it was my birthday weekend.

BOTH hotels offered superb customer service.

A special thank you to Melissa, our host at The Mansion,  that went beyond to accommodate us and make sure my birthday weekend was special.

5. Traveling during Covid

All places took my temperature, had easy access to hand sanitizer, and required for you to wear a mask when entering and walking around their facility.

Every place I visited constantly sanitized their facility and made their best effort to keep people/sections six feet apart.

As mentioned above, Tybee beach made sure to place enough distance between other beach chairs and umbrellas.

Keep in mind that at the moment hotels are currently not doing room service to keep social interaction to a minimum but still provide you with additional towels, sheets, and anything else you need.

Overall, I felt comfortable with all measures.

6. Traveling while BLACK- APPROVED!

During my visit, I did not experience any type of discrimination (HALLELUYAH!!!)

Honestly, everyone was really friendly and helpful and no one said or did anything disrespectful towards me.
